Phillies chocolate
This is another flavored cigar that was send to me by an American friend as a joke, he already relieved me from my duties to review it, but I gave him my word and what am I if my word isn’t good enough anymore? The other reviews can be found on my blog too.

This is a 5 inch ring 41 cigar with a dark wrapper, nice and clean, but it’s no real tobacco. The wrapper is tobacco paper. There is a little hole in the back so you don’t need to cut the cigar. The aroma is sweet and not recognizable.

Afbeelding

At the predraw I could actually taste some chocolate, but a cheap, bad, chemical chocolate while I like the high quality dark chocolate. After lighting the cigar the chocolate flavor disappears and it’s just a chemical sweetness.

The tobacco paper leaves a strange ash, but the draw, smoke and burn are good. This isn’t a good cigar, no way, but it is not as worse as the Lars Tetens Gorillafinger or the Phillies Peach and White Owl pineapple I smoked before.

Would I buy this cigar again? A simple NO is the answer to this question.

Jose Benito magnum
This big cigar with its 64 ring and 9 inch length is packed in its own coffin. It doesn’t feel firm which worries me about the draw. The wrapper is light colored with some light veins and the aroma is nice and light. The cigar is wrapped in cellophane.

I could taste some woody flavors, slightly sweet. The wood becomes a bit more spicy soon and after a few inch it becomes sweet again, honeysweet this time. Halfway I could taste a bit chocolaty flavor as an extra flavor next to the wood.

Afbeelding

After 2/3rd the cigar grows a bit in strength and close to the band I could taste some liquorices.

This cigar is boring, shallow and mild. If I wasn’t reviewing it I wouldn’t even have smoked it till the end. The draw is too lose, way too lose and the burn is crooked too. The ash is frayed and not very firm and the smoke is poor. Even though this is a huge cigar it lasts less than 90 minutes.

Fortunately the drink I had was good, one of my favorite Scottish malts

Would I buy this cigar again? No, way too mild, way too easy draw and overpriced with 11 euro.

Ramon Allones gran robusto Benelux RE 2007
This 6 inch 52 ring Ramon Allones is the first Benelux RE ever and the production limits at 600 boxes of 25. The wrapper is a nice oily smooth wrapper and the construction feels good. The aroma is a light version of the unique Cuban aroma.

I can taste some toast and soon after the classic Cuban leather although a bit on the mild side. After an inch there is a creamy chocolate flavor added to the leather. Halfway the power increases and for a brief moment a little pepper shows up. After 2/3rd some salty nuts show up.

This cigar combines a fine draw with dark and firm ashes and a medium smoke. The burn is very good, straight and it won’t die too soon. It is medium bodied and full flavored.

Would I buy this cigar again? Yes, this year my x-mass bonus will be spend on a box of these puppies

What can I say? The packaging is nice, a fine, arty blue tube to hold the ring 30 4 ¾ inch cigar and the tube keeps the smell of air freshener combined with pastry nicely concealed. The wrapper is real tobacco, not the tobacco paper that Swisser Sweets use. It has some nice veins.

After lighting this horrible thing I smell a terrible sweet smell and the flavor is like a very chemical suger candy. The flavor is concentrated on the lips and not in the mouth. I feel a little burning sensation on the tip of my tongue.

Afbeelding

The draw is light but this cigar produces a lot of smoke for a little thing.

Would I buy this cigar again? Yes, and I will give it to people who I dislike

Nub 466 habano
A lot has been said about the nubs, some love them, others call them a hype, well, I smoked one now, the Habanos version and I think I am the second category, I dislike the nub, it isn’t what it’s supposed to be when you believe the (sales) stories.

Afbeelding

Yes, it looks funny, short, fat, a bit like me, the 466 is a reference to the size. 4 inch long with a 66 ring. The wrapper is nice and clean, a bit oily. The predraw is just fine and the cigar has an aroma of dry hay.

Afbeelding

I could taste some coffee with a bit leather, not really good though. After about half an inch I could taste the typical Oliva flavor and the coffee disappeared. After an inch the Oliva flavor goes away and I could taste a nutty flavor. The nutty flavor is consistent and only grows a bit in strength.

Afbeelding

I can only say great things about the smoke, the smoke is awesome. The ash is quite firm and right before I want to re-act the famous “look at this cigar standing on its ashes” it broke off all over my shirt (again).

Afbeelding

This short cigar is good for 75 minutes of smoking and is strong enough to feed me some vitamin N. The burn was just a little off, but I won’t hold it against this cigar.

Would I buy this cigar again? No, this cigar doesn't live up to the hype and is not worth a second try
