Oliva O maduro churchill
This ring 50 and 7 inch long Churchill with its beautiful dark silky wrapper has a dark aroma of manure, a fine construction and the predraw is just fine.

The first flavors that I taste after lighting the cigar is a sweet leathery flavor, full and with that typical Oliva sweetness that you find in all their cigars, even in the stronger V series or the El Cobre line. It is a bit creamy, but the creaminess fades away slowly. The cigar remains full flavored but yet not full bodied.

The creaminess re-appears with a slight hint of chocolate and it all disappears after reaching the middle of the cigar. From that time it is herbs, it starts with a light herby flavor and grows into a herby leather.
There is more than enough smoke and the ashes, well, just look at the picture and remember, it is a Churchill. The burn is good.

Would I buy this cigar again? No, I like the V series better

Montecristo #1
This Montecristo #1 is a 6.3 inch ring 40 cigar with an oily wrapper with small veins, a light aroma and a good construction.

Smooth soft leather with a bit of pepper is what I taste. Not much of a development in the flavor department at the start. The pepper disappears soon and the leather becomes a bit bitter. After finishing about half the cigar the leather suddenly grows in strength and a nutty flavor supports the leather. The cigar slowly grows in strength and I could even taste a grassy flavor. The finale is wood, toast and nutty.

The smoke is fine, the draw is good and the ash is dark. No complaints about the burn.

Would I buy this cigar again? No, I prefer other sizes.

Diplomaticos #2
This 6 inch ring 52 torpedo is supposedly a Montecristo second, but I liked it just as much as the real deal. It has a light stable aroma which is common amongst Cuban cigars. The construction is good just like the predraw and the band is very simple.

The recognizable leather that you find in most Cuban cigars is very noticeable available and is accompanied by some cedar wood. Soon it becomes a little creamy. The creaminess fades away but a light chocolate flavor returns. The classic Cuban leather is consistent though.

Halfway the cigar the ash breaks off and a warm creamy flavor appears, the leather disappears and the creaminess has a little chocolate flavor to it with some wood on the side.

This is a nice, full flavored medium to full bodied cigar which I could nub till the end. The smoke was sufficient, the draw was fine and the ash frayed. I had to correct the burn once or twice

Would I buy this cigar again? Yes, it was a pleasant surprise

G. de Graaff Costa Rica churchill
This Costa Rican puro, size Churchill, by the old Dutch brand G. de Graaff has a pretty light colored smooth wrapper and it feels just has firm everywhere, no weak spots in the construction. The predraw is somewhat tough and gives hints of pepper and raisin. I could taste the pepper on my lips. Too bad that the band is way too simple; a nicer band would make it more appealing in the presentation. The aroma is full, manure combined with hay.

After lighting the cigar I can taste pepper with some light leather on the background. While the pepper disappears the leather grows in strength. The pepper doesn’t disappear completely and is slightly noticeable on the background. The leather reminds me a lot of the leather that is so typical for Cuban cigars.

After about an inch and a half there is the aroma of chocolate with something spicy, an inch later its pepper with some leather. There cigar doesn’t grow in strength though. Halfway it is leather with some chocolate, a bit creamy. The cream has a warm feeling to it and grows in strength. The grand finale is a salty flavor.

The draw is good; it surprised me as the predraw was a bit tough. The smoke is full & white, the ash is white too and the burn is even and the cigar doesn’t die quickly.

Would I buy this cigar again? Maybe someday, won’t be a regular in my collection even though it is a good cigar

Phillies peach
Someone, a friend on Cigar Asylum listening to the nickname Volt, send me some flavored cigars for me to review. Why? Probably for fun, his fun, because he didn’t do me a favor. But there will be revenge, I promise!

This small 5 inch ring 41 cigar has a heavy peach smell, reminds me to bubblegum, the bubblegum I didn’t like as a kid, so why do I try to smoke something like that 25 years later? I must have lost my mind. The band is ugly, but that fits the cigar.

The predraw is fine and the aroma is sweet. Low down dirty sweet, disgusting. After lighting the cigar it tastes like sweet thick peach flavored lemonade. A very chemical flavor which almost makes me puke, but somehow I seem to get used to the flavor because the urge to puke fades away the longer I smoke the cigar. It keeps disgusting though.

Would I buy this cigar again? Hell no!
